In 1940, the Quincy Park District was formed with five commissioners elected to govern the District. Governed:
By a seven member volunteer board of commissioners, each of whom serve four-year terms. Real Estate:

The tax rate for 2007 was $.53267.
Fiscal Year Budget:
The proposed operating budget for 2008 is $10,633,736.The fiscal year begins January 1 and concludes on December 31. Park Resources:
The District consists of approximately 950 acres of park land. Facilities include an administrative building with gymnasium, classrooms, indoor playground and activity center, 2 outdoor swimming pools with waterslides, batting cage/miniature golf and paddleboat operation with concession stand, 275 slip marina and public boat launching ramps, irrigated 27-hole public golf course with clubhouse, pro shop and concessions, a riverfront interpretive center, lighted baseball/softball fields, lighted tennis courts, soccer/football fields, basketball courts, 23 picnic shelters, fishing lake, 11 playground sites, archery range, trailer dumping station, and walking/jogging paths. Currently, the District is developing a 53 acre park to include a playground, shelter and walking path that will serve as a trailhead for the 12th to 18th Street section of the linear park. Programs and Services:
The District provides a full range of activities and services year round. Recreation programs for youth and adults include baseball/softball, basketball, golf, aerobic classes, music lessons, art classes, swimming lessons, tennis lessons, day camps, special events, trips, senior programs, mommy/daddy date nights, baseball camps, cheerleading, after school programs and nature programs. Staff:
The District has an appointed executive director responsible for administration of the District and full time staff of (27). The District also employs more than (300) part-time, seasonal and temporary workers each year. Affiliations:
The District is affiliated with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD), the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) and the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce. Awards:
